Visiting

2017-2018 District Governor Crystal Walk has been busy, along with 2017-2018 Cabinet Secretary Viva Metz, scheduling clubs for her DG Visits. They are contacting all the club officers in this regard. This gets complicated a bit by clubs who break for the summer. Please pass this info along if your officers aren't easily contacted by email. We’ve put a calendar on the District 19F webpage so your club’s secretary or president needs to let Crystal or Viva know what date will work for the visit. Crystal says:

“This year wraps up the Centennial celebration and I will be in a festive mood for the visits.🎉 I am asking each Club to provide the birthday cake if they can.🎂  (If they can't, I will bring one). And I will bring the party 😉.   DG Dave is working on a centennial celebration version of the video 🎥 and your club will also receive last year's version as a gift 🎁 from the District.

Guests are welcome and awards will be presented.”

Year in Review

A year ago VDG Governor Crystal and I went to Fukuoka, Japan for my District Governor training and three days of the 99th International Convention. From our hotel window I took a photo of the entryway which appeared in one of the first of the You Guys Are Great blogs.

Today, I took a similar shot, a year later, of the entry way to the hotel where we will stay as DG Crystal takes her District Governor training prior to the 100th International Convention of Lions in Chicago, Illinois USA.

Looking back over the 2016-2017 19F Lions year is easy because of the You Guys Are Great DG blogs which were written more or less weekly. We tried to make a write-up of every club for the blogs but sometimes time, technology and fatigue got in the way of that aspiration. The goal was to showcase how great the Lions in our 46 clubs are, to stay positive, and to essentially be a cheerleader.

VDG Crystal and I had a wonderful time visiting clubs, learning how they operated and how truly effective they are in service to their communities. It was a little humbling learning how much I didn’t know about Lionism and very exhilarating being in the presence of so many great Lions.

Those 57 You Guys Are Great blogs have had 5,057 page views during the year. Each month my son Lion Derence Walk combined the best blogs of the month just passed and made them into the required DG You Guys Are Great Newsletter.  Each month we attached or linked it to the 600 or so District Lions who have emails listed in the LCI database. These same blogs and the newsletters were also shared via our District 19F Website and District 19F Facebook page.

An alphabetical index of links to those You Guys Are Great blogs follows and is also at this link: 19F You Guys Are Great blog index.
